Know Your Sewing Machine
Don't let your machine stay a stranger, get acquainted with it! Once you know how all the parts and dials work, you'll find that sewing is fun and easy. No matter it's age, any machine in good condition can be your ticket to creating crafts, clothing, home decor, you name it!

We'll go over the basics step by step, identifying parts of the machine and covering all the steps you need to know to sew both straight and zigzag stitches. In addition to threading the machine and winding and inserting the bobbin, you'll learn how to adjust your machine tension, change the stitch length and width, and select and change needles.

Not only will you leave knowing how to sew with your machine, you'll make and take home a pin cushion to use and to show off your new skills.

This class is perfect for first time sewers, as a refresher, or for anyone who is unfamiliar with a machine they currently own. If you do not have a machine, talk to a staff member when you sign up and tell them you would like to arrange to have a machine set up for you.

Sewing Basics: Practice for Beginners

Build your skill level and your confidence as you learn and practice a number of simple yet powerful sewing techniques! This class is the next step for beginners after taking Know Your Sewing Machine, or for anyone who knows how a machine works but hasn't sewn for a while.

Starting with a number of exercises including a tension test, seaming, backstitching, edge finishing, pivoting, curved seaming, narrow hemming and piecing, you'll work your way toward understanding how clothing, bags, curtains, quilts and more are made. In addition to your practice samples, you can make several projects to take home as well including a miniature banner, gift bag and sachet.

Bring your machine to class, or if you do not have one yet, talk to a staff member when you sign up and tell them you would like to arrange to have a machine set up for you. Fabric and materials will be provided for you.

Embroidery Insight
Own an embroidery machine and want to have fun with others stitching out projects? Come join us for Embroidery Insight every other month. Every time we meet, there will be a project which you will create on your embroidery machine and take home with you. You'll learn tips and tricks to successfully embroidery and have fun too! Any brand of embroidery machine is welcome, just sign up ahead of time and pay a nominal kit fee.

Inside Zede's Sewing Studio
Attend the filming of the world's first sewing talk show.

"Inside Zede's Sewing Studio" is your opportunity to put our knowledge to work for you.

At every taping we will take questions from the audience regarding sewing and use the materials at our disposal and knowledge gained over the years to answer your sewing questions. We'll also share a few of our own tricks and tips to your projects. And, when the opportunity arrives, we'll also host expert guests from the sewing world. 

If you've enjoyed our other videos, now is the time to become part of the process! Filming begins promptly at 7pm, so please arrive at 6:45. No one in the audience will be obligated to be on camera, and we will not use any footage of you without your permission.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Sewing Basics: Sew A Tote

The box-bottom tote you'll make in this class is so useful, and so easy to make! It's a perfect beginning sewer's project covering 4 of the most basic sewing techniques: 

  • seaming
  • seam finishing
  • turn and stitch hemming
  • top stitching
You'll take home not only your new sturdy denim tote but illustrated instructions and the know how to make more totes of different sizes and dimensions.

This class is open to anyone with basic sewing machine skills or who has just taken the Know Your Sewing Machine/Learn to Sew class.

Bring a machine that can zig zag, or contact the store to have a machine set up for you to use. Fabric and thread will be provided.

EVENT: 1600 Inch Quilt Lock-In

Quilt lock-inHere we go - it is time for some late night fun with our next lock in. Come and see how easy it can be to piece a simple yet dynamic quilt top. Linda will share some additional tips that will make this one quick and fun project. This is a great beginner class, and if you are running short on time you can just purchase a jelly roll and join in the fun!
